How this fits your own daily target

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop soy protein powder (plant based)
  • 300 ml soy milk
  • 100 g bananas
  • 80 g raspberries
  • 8 g ground flaxseed

Method

  1. Blend the soy milk, protein powder, banana and most of the raspberries until smooth. A frozen banana makes it thick enough to eat with a spoon.
  2. Pour into a bowl.
  3. Top with the remaining raspberries and the flaxseed.

What this plate gives you

The soy protein powder and the soy milk give 30 g of protein, which is what separates this from a fruit smoothie; the raspberries, banana and flaxseed give 14 g of fibre, half a 2,000-calorie day’s 28 g. At 452 calories it is a little under a quarter of that day. Freeze the banana in chunks and the bowl comes out thick enough to hold a spoon.

Swaps

  • Frozen raspberries: the same numbers and a colder bowl.
  • Whey for the soy protein: about the same numbers, not vegan.
  • Oats blended in: about 100 more calories and 3 g more fibre.

Keeping it

Eat it within the hour; it separates and loses its thickness.
